What Annie says about Phelix:

Phelix is our first Pharaoh Hound. A few of the reasons we fell in love with the breed were high energy, intelligence, and their independence - Phelix has not let us down in any of those areas!  Our intention when seeking out the perfect Pharaoh Hound was to find a pup that would be a great companion and a versatile performance dog.  We have never had a show dog, and had 0 experience in the breed ring.  But since Phelix is a handsome boy, we thought we would give conformation a try and have fun learning.  Phelix finished his AKC Championship, 100% owner-handled.

Phelix is very busy and versatile, which is perfect since we keep him active in a number of different sports. Phelix earned his RLP (APDT Rally Puppy title) at just 6 1/2 months old, followed by his RN at 8 months, and CGC at 9 months – he’s one smart boy!  He competes in lure coursing, racing, rally, and freestyle.  Phelix is also in training for both agility and nosework, both of which he really enjoys.  He is very eager to try new things, so we use a lot of shaping to train new behaviors and agility obstacles. Shaping has also proved to be an excellent way to burn some of his vast mental energy!

Our other dog is a Boston Terrier, Lucy, who is 5 years older than Phelix. They are great buddies, but don't let the size difference fool you - Lucy is in charge.   Contrary to many sighthounds, Phelix loves to play, swim, and dive into the water. During the summer, we take him boating - he barks and jumps with excitement as we walk him down to the dock to get in the boat. We typically head out to a sandbar where he can jump off the boat and play fetch in the water. Phelix loves frisbee, tennis balls, or anything that moves for that matter. His other "interests" include playing in the snow, digging, and attempting to climb trees... He keeps us on our toes, but at the end of the day, he's also a big lap dog that loves attention and being spoiled.
